- IRS Stimulus Payment Information
- For those of you who don't normally file a tax return, you must do so this year to get your IRS Stimulus payment.

Information for those that received DISABILITY COMPENSATION, PENSION OR SURVIVORS’ BENEFITS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS LAST YEAR. - Senior Fraud Alerts
- From time to time, The Shepherd's Center of Charlotte receives fraud information that may be of interest to you. This information comes to us from the NC Secretary of State's Office, the NC Attorney General's Office, and federal offices.
If you feel you may have been involved in a fraudulent activity, please contact either:

- Volunteers provide rides to medical services, dentists or physical therapy. Call at least three days in advance. Service is available in central and southeast Charlotte.
- Handyman
- Volunteers perform small repairs to help keep older homes safe and livable. Hourly fee of $5.00 per hour goes to the Handyman. Service is available in central and southeast Charlotte.
- Grocery Shopping and Errand Service
- Volunteers provide rides to the grocery store, bank or beauty parlor. Service is available in central and southeast Charlotte.
- Companion Aide Referral
- Under the guidance of the Companion Aide Director, volunteers screen and place experienced home health aides and sitters. Aides provide patient care, meals and light housekeeping. Hours and fees are arranged between the patient and the aide.

Adventures in Learning is a fun mini-college for senior adults, which is held four times a year in six-week sessions.

- Tax Help
- Volunteer counselors will help you with your taxes each year from February to April. All counselors are trained by AARP. Please call The Shepherd's Center of Charlotte for your appointment for this FREE service. Remember, this service is only available from February to April each year.
- Health Insurance and Medicare
- Senior Health Insurance Information Program counseling for Medicare, long-term care insurance, medigap policies, Medicare Part D and more
- Legal Services
- For assistance with basic health care powers of attorney or living wills.
- Financial Topics
- Financial topics are covered by experts. This quarter’s topics are listed in the Newsletter.
- Ideas for the Home
- Information on home ownership, maintenance and programs to help you live safely and comfortably.
- Computer Classes
- Volunteers teach an eight-week Introductory Course and other short courses for senior adults. In addition, the Center offers specialized short courses in Internet and Email, Word processing, Spreadsheet, Digital Imaging and Photo Management.
Cooperative Program
- Hot Meal Delivery
- For hot meal delivery call Friendship Trays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm weekdays at 704-333-9229. They enroll recipients and make delivery and payment arrangements. Shepherd’s Center volunteers deliver meals in cooperation with Friendship Trays.
- AARP Driver Safety Class
- In cooperation with AARP, The Shepherd's Center of Charlotte offers a Driver Safety Class each quarter.
