Property Tax Exemption

If you are 65 years of age or totally disabled, the first $20,000 of home value is excluded from property tax if you have an income for the preceding calendar year of not more than $18,500 (based on adjusted gross income.) Duke power customers, even those disabled or temporarily in a nursing home, may lose power if they don’t pay their bill. To prevent this, Duke has instituted THIRD PARTY NOTIFICATION, a plan through which you can designate a friend, relative, or any responsible person to be notified if your electric bill becomes overdue.
