All computer classes are taught by adult volunteers at a well-equipped computer lab located at Southminster Retirement Community. Each student works at their assigned computer. A state-of-the-art video projector allows the instructor to project a computer screen and illustrate concepts to the class.

This eight week class, which meets one day a week, starts at a basic level and introduces vocabulary and entry level skills using a variety of computer applications including: Windows, Word processing, Spreadsheet, Internet and Email. Classes meet for three hours on weekday mornings for 8 weeks, a total of 24 hours. Registration is $50.00. Registration Form
Continuing Your Education . . .Short Courses
Short courses are offered throughout the year. Call the Center at 704-365-1995 to ask to be called when a particular short course is calendared. Classes are held at The Computer Lab at Southminster Retirement Community, 8919 Park Road. Short Courses are open to those who complete Introduction to Computer or who have comparable skill levels.
Digital Imaging Management & Editing
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
July 8, 9 & 10
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
In this 9-hour, 3-session course, you will learn how to manage and edit digital photos, from loading the pictures into the computer to editing and sharing. This class does NOT teach you how to use your digital camera. The price for this class, including a comprehensive manual, is $20.00.
Excel & Spreadsheet
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
In this nine hour course, students will create several varied Excel spreadsheets and learn basic skills including building simple formulas and manipulating data. Fee for this class and handouts is $25.00.
Internet and Email
1:00pm - 4:00pm
This is a nine-hour, three-session course where students can learn basic skills. Fee for this class (including handouts) is $25.00.
Using Microsoft Word
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
This is a nine-hour, three-session class designed to build word processing skills. Word Processing will be offered periodically in 2008. Fee for this class (including handouts) is $25.00.
The computers used at the Southminster Computer Lab are personal computers (PC's) rather than Apples or Macs.
